Wreath laid in memory of TB Hardy in Rossignol Wood on the Somme.
In late June 2006 Anne Huntington from Hutton Roof post office kindly made a wreath which contains the following message:"Rev. T.B. Hardy, V.C.,D.S.O.,M.C. with remembrance from the villagers of Hutton Roof, Cumbria". The wreath was taken to the Somme and David Raw, Hardy's biographer, fastened it to a tree in Rossignol Wood. This was one of the places where the Reverend Hardy performed one of many selfless acts of courage in rescuing a young soldier for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross.
David Raw's books are available at Hutton Roof Post Office or direct Tel: 017683 53941

One of the villagers of Hutton Roof, Marilyn Edwards, who is currently researching a novel she is writing about the Rev. T.B. Hardy went on the trip to the Somme which was led by David Raw and presented the wreath to him in honour of Hardy's memory on behalf of the village.
Marilyn asks if anyone has any anecdotes that they know about Hardy and his activities around Hutton Roof before he went to war would they be kind enough to email her on Mooncottagecats@hotmail.com or phone her on 015242 71519. Thank you very much.
